General Description
Above: brown with orange-yellow markings, forewing with a white spot near the edge, hindwing with eyespot. Below: hindwings brown with narrow dark brown lines and an eyespot. Wingspan up to 5 cm.
Biology
Solander's Brown butterflies are present from mid-summer to autumn. Their caterpillars feed on soft grasses (Poa) and Wire grass.
Distribution
South-eastern mainland Australia.
Habitat
Alpine woodlands, mountain ranges and open forest areas.
