General Description
Male and female similar. Mostly metallic greenish-black; thorax with pale markings on side; abdomen with narrow pale bands. Wings clear.
Biology
Adults rest on vegetation along the edges of creeks and streams. They fly short distances when disturbed and resettle. Usually perch with wings outspread like a dragonfly.
Distribution
Eastern Australia from about Cairns, Qld to Vic., occurs well inland.
Habitat
Common along creeks, streams and rivers. Inhabits a wide range of habitats from urban areas to open forests and rainforests.
