General Description
Above: dark brown with blue base to both wings, two red dots near end of hindwings. Below: grey with orange-red bands and spots with green edges. Wingspan up to 4 cm.
Biology
Moonlight Jewel butterflies breed on the leaves of wattle trees. Their caterpillars hide in ant holes during the day and emerge at night to feed. These butterflies are present in December and January.
Distribution
South-eastern mainland Australia.
Habitat
Woodlands with wattle trees.
