General Description
Above: black with orange markings and a white-centred black eyespot on each wing. Below: bands on inner edge of the two eyespots. Wingspan up to 5 cm.
Biology
Bank's Brown butterflies are present in late summer to autumn. The caterpillars feed at night on a range of soft grasses (Poa) and Forest Wire-grass.
Distribution
South-eastern mainland Australia.
Habitat
Forested mountains and their surrounding hills.
