General Description
Above: black with orange markings and a single eyespot to each wing. Below: forewing with orange markings more extensive than above, and hindwing with silver patches. Wingspan up to 4 cm.
Biology
Striped Xenica butterflies are present for a short time in mid-summer. Their caterpillars feed on a range of soft grasses (Poa) and Forest Wire-grass.
Distribution
South-eastern mainland Australia.
Habitat
Forested mountain and alpine areas.
