General Description
Above: wings black with green patches and white base, hindwing with a black tail. Below: similar to above, but brown rather than black, and more green on hindwing. Wingspan up to 6 cm.
Biology
Macleay's Swallowtail butterflies often feed on flowers with their wings rapidly vibrating. Their caterpillars eat Sassafras leaves.
Distribution
Eastern mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Rainforest gullies of mountain ranges.
