General Description
Black with a broad, heavily armoured body and stout spiny legs. The front of the chest section (thorax) looks like a shovel. Adults of some species are wingless while others have only wing stumps on the thorax. Length about 3.5-4.5 cm.
Biology
Wood cockroaches are powerful burrowers that live inside and feed on rotten logs. Larvae are creamy white, are found on soil under logs and also feed on rotten wood.
Distribution
Along the east coast of Australia and across Victoria.
Habitat
Rotten logs in rainforest and open forest.
