General Description
White bivalve. Both valves (shells) are a similar rounded triangular shape, smooth and slightly polished with some yellow staining. The part of the shell where the valves meet the hinge is relatively swollen. Up to 2.5 cm.
Biology
This marine bivalve is a filter feeder. It buries itself in sand and sandy mud.
Distribution
All states of Australia in suitable coastal habitats.
Habitat
Marine coastlines and estuaries in mud, preferring sheltered environments.
