General Description
Cylindrical, tapered caterpillar-like body in a smooth case. Green. Up to 5 mm long.
Biology
These larvae are usually found grazing on algae and other plant, often decaying, material, in rivers and streams. They can be common when the stream is open with plenty of light encouraging growth of algae on a stable surface such as a large rock. They will also graze periphyton (attached algae) on the surface of macrophytes (aquatic plants) as in Darlot Creek.
