General Description
Brightly-coloured parrot. Head yellow and white with pale blue cheek patch, wings black, yellow and blue, underbelly and tail pale blue. Red under the base of the tail. Weight up to 115 g, head-body length 33 cm.
Biology
A hollow-nesting bird. Females incubate alone but males assist with feeding the chicks. Considered a resident species. Consists of two subspecies that can interbreed, producing hybrid plumage patterns across the lower Cape York Peninsula.
Distribution
Australia; northeast to central Queensland and northern parts of New South Wales

Lowland, open country, woodlands, treed farmlands, edges of coastal swamp forests, gardens and parks
