General Description
Large pigeon with plump body, short wings, long tail and small head. Predominantly grey, with a characteristic white 'V' on the breast and white belly flecked with black. Eye-ring, bill, feet and legs are pinkish-red. Body length up to 40 cm.
Biology
Elusive ground-dwelling birds that forage for seeds, fruits and insects on the forest floor. Nest high in trees and adopt cryptic postures with tail raised to blend into tree branches.
Distribution
Eastern Australia, from Queensland to Victoria
Habitat
Dense forests, rainforests and scrub near the coast.
