General Description
Upper body, tail and head brown-grey; underparts red-brown with narrow white stripes. Legs thin and yellow, tail square at tip. Females are larger than the males. Young birds have dark brown underparts with white streaks. Body up to 40 cm long.
Biology
Collared Sparrowhawks are solitary birds, living alone.
Distribution
Mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Woodlands and forests, also in towns.
