General Description
Upper body parts pale brown-grey with a darker tail. Wings with black stripes and a white-edged green patch. Thin black crest on head. Body up to 35 cm long.
Biology
When these pigeons fly, their wings make a clapping sound. When they land, they raise their tail, flashing the underside. Crested Pigeons are often seen in flocks. They feed on seeds and insects.
Distribution
Mainland Australia except the driest deserts and Far North Queensland.
Habitat
Open grasslands, woodlands and parks.
