General Description
Body white with black wings and a wide red-brown band across breast. Legs narrow and red. Bill black, narrow and pointed. Body up to 41 cm long.
Biology
Banded Stilts are nomadic, moving between different areas in different seasons. They breed after heavy rain, mainly in arid inland areas.
Distribution
South-western, central and south-eastern mainland Australia.
Habitat
Saltwater lakes, open freshwater wetlands, coastal bays and inlets.
