General Description
Upper body light brown with pale streaks; underparts white with a black "V" shape patch on the breast. Black stripe through eye; red circle around the eye. Bill red, black at the tip. Body up to 16 cm long.
Biology
Black-fronted Dotterels feed on small insects, molluscs and crustaceans. They stalk their prey by standing still and then chasing as the prey move past.
Distribution
Mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Open freshwater wetlands and muddy shores.
