General Description
Body grey, darker above and more silver below. Gill covering (operculum) with black edge. Outer edge of tail fin black. Up to 30 cm long head to tail tip.
Biology
Silver Sweep are a schooling species. They sometimes enter estuaries, and juveniles are common in rock pools on the coast.
Distribution
New Zealand and south-eastern Australia.
Habitat
Exposed coastal and rocky reef areas, to depth of 30 m.
