General Description
Body compressed, oval, with dorsal and ventral profiles evenly rounded; head blunt, mouth very small; scales small. Whitish to pale greyish with 9-10 dark wedge-shaped bars on sides, fins yellow. Usually 30 cm long head to tail tip (up to 51 cm).
Biology
Zebrafish are found in habitats ranging from quiet estuaries, to sheltered offshore reefs and turbulent coastal areas. This species congregates in both small and large schools in depths to about 20 m.
Distribution
Southern Australia.
Habitat
Algal-covered reefs in coastal waters and estuaries, to a depth of 20 m.
