General Description
Body red to pinkish to reddish, or yellowish (males) with black spots at the base of the end of the dorsal fin (females and juveniles). Gradual tapering head. Up to 20 cm long (head to tail tip).
Biology
An inquisitive wrasse usually found on deeper rocky reefs and drop-offs below 10 metres. Female Rosy Wrasses have widely overlapping home ranges, while the males defend territories from all other males, especially during the breeding season.
Distribution
Southern Australia.
Habitat
Reef areas, to depth of 218 m.
