General Description
Deep, compressed body, short head and mouth. Long based dorsal and anal fins that are lower near the tail. White with dark horizontal stripes. Fins mostly yellow. Usually 10 cm long head to tail (up to 25 cm).
Biology
This species is more common along the east coast of Australia than the south. It is a schooling species.
Distribution
South-eastern Australia.
Habitat
Shallow coastal reefs and tidal pools, to depth of 30 m.
