General Description
Body fur colour varies, including combinations of black, brown and white. The ears are long, narrow and beneath the horns. Males have larger horns than females, and a beard that becomes a mane around the neck. Body up to 1.6 m, tail up to 17 cm.
Biology
Goats form groups of individuals (trip) and feed on various food types, mainly plants and shrubs. They stop breeding during periods of drought. Males have a distinctive pungent smell.
Distribution
Scattered populations introduced in pastoral regions of mainland Australia and Tasmania. Excluded from monsoonal tropics.
Habitat
Grassland and woodland.
