General Description
Body fur pale yellow-brown with yellow on the rump and hind legs. Narrow ring of pale fur around the eye. Body up to 14 cm, tail up to 10 cm.
Biology
Swamp Antechinus mate at the same time within each population, after which the males die. They are largely nocturnal and forage for insects. They build nests of dry grass in shallow burrows.
Distribution
South-eastern mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Woodland, dense heath, coastal grassland areas and reedy swamps.
