General Description
Body fur light red-brown, white underneath, including a white chin. Nose area pink. Dark ring of fur around eye and rounded ears. Tail short, coiled and never fattened at base. Body up to 11 cm, tail up to 10 cm.
Biology
Western Pygmy Possums are active at night, on the ground and in the trees. They make round nests in tree hollows, and become inactive (torpor) during cold weather. They feed on nectar and insects.
Distribution
Southern mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Wheatbelt and mallee areas in a variety of habitats with suitable flowering plants.
