General Description
Upper body grey-brown, underparts pale grey. Ears long, but do not extend past the nose if held forward. Tail white. Body up to 45 cm long.
Biology
European Rabbits shelter in burrows (warrens). They eat grass and fleshy plant roots (tubers). They are considered to be a pest species in Australia and there have been many attempts to eradicate them. The IUCN listing as 'endangered' relates only to their natural range of southwest Europe and Northwest Africa.
Distribution
Mainland Australia and Tasmania; excluded from monsoonal tropics.
