General Description
Oval-shaped body. Head pointed with branched antennae on top. Carapace transparent. Up to 5 mm long.
Biology
Water Fleas swim with short rapid jerky movements. When present, their eggs can be seen through the transparent carapace of the females. If water dries up, the released eggs can survive for considerable periods.
Distribution
Mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Open water or near the bottom, in streams, ponds and wetlands.
