General Description
Body wide, oval-shaped and slightly flattened. Front of head flat. Front legs short with flat tips; middle and rear legs longer. Body up to 2 cm long.
Biology
Water Boatmen feed mainly on algae and plant debris, but a few species are predators and will eat invertebrates.
Distribution
Worldwide. Mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Still or slow-flowing water, in lakes or lowland rivers.
