General Description
Body with feather-like gills underneath the abdomen. A silk covering (silk retreat) surrounds the body. Up to 3 cm long.
Biology
These larvae are filter feeders. They rely on a net, formed by the silk around their body, to trap small particles, such as algae and invertebrates.
Distribution
Worldwide. Mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Flowing water, usually in areas with strong currents.
