General Description
Body oval-shaped and flattened. Head and legs are not visible from above. Up to 1 cm long.
Biology
Water Penny larvae feed on algae scraped from the surface of rocks. Their oval body makes a streamlined shape that enables them to cling to rocks without being washed downstream by the flowing water.
Distribution
Eastern mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Flowing water, on the top surface of rocks in flowing water.
