General Description
Body cylindrical with spiny, rigid gills on the side of the abdomen. Up to 2 cm long.
Biology
These nymphs have mouthparts that are modified for filter feeding on fine organic matter and algae; hairs on the legs assist in this process. They use their gills to anchor themselves beneath rocks.
Distribution
South-eastern mainland Australia.
Habitat
Flowing water, including upland streams, usually in areas with stones or pebbles.
