General Description
Body brown with a tuft of gills between two tails at the tip of the abdomen. Up to 1 cm long.
Biology
These nymphs usually eat organic detritus or algae, although a few species are carnivores and prey on aquatic invertebrates. Over a hundred species live just in southern Australia.
Distribution
New Zealand, South America. Eastern mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Streams with cool water, usually underneath rocks.
