General Description
Segmented body with one long, smooth segment (collar) near the head. Body up to 15 cm long.
Biology
Earthworms are hermaphrodites; each individual has both male and female reproductive systems. As they move over and through the soil, eating plant material, they enrich, aerate and mix the soil.
Distribution
Worldwide. Mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Damp areas.
