General Description
Body dark with a rough pattern on the head and thorax. Body of worker up to 6 mm long.
Biology
Greenhead Ants are very common, particularly in areas disturbed by human activities. They make nests in the soil, under rocks or logs, and sometimes in rotten wood in damp areas. They are general predators and scavengers and can inflict a painful sting.
Distribution
Southern, central and eastern mainland Australia.
Habitat
Urban areas, forests, woodlands, heath, arid areas.
