General Description
Body rounded shape with a mottled pattern of black, orange-brown and white. Larva: brown and hairy, broadest at the rear where there is a brush of hairs. Body up to 3 mm long.
Biology
Carpet Beetle larvae are destructive, eating dry animal matter including wood, fur and feathers. The larvae are bigger than the adults. Finding beetles on window sills in houses may indicate an infestation.
Distribution
Worldwide. Southern mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Urban areas.
