Calosoma schayeri Erichson, Green Carabid Beetle

General Description

Body shiny green. Wing cases (elytra) wider than the head area. Up to 2 cm long.

Biology

Green Carabid Beetles are active predators, hunting caterpillars for food. They are one of three closely related species in Australia.

Distribution

Mainland Australia and Tasmania.

Habitat

Urban areas and forests.
