General Description
Body often brightly coloured with dark markings, sometimes shiny. Larva: white worm with a flattened head. Body up to 2 cm long.
Biology
Jewel Beetles are active during the day in summer. They are found on flowers, feeding on nectar. Larvae burrow into wood and can be found under bark.
Distribution
Mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
On native flowering trees and shrubs.
