Biology

Gall Formers produce different size and shape lumps (galls) on plants depending on the sex of the animal. Females usually produce large (1-3 cm) woody swollen lumps on eucalypt stems and leaves; males produce small (less than 1 cm) tubular lumps on stems, leaves and fruit. The size and shape of lumps also can distinguish species.

Distribution

Southern and Central mainland Australia.

Habitat

On eucalypt trees in sclerophyll forests and urban areas.
