General Description
Body black with red eyes. Wings clear with dark veins. Body up to 6 cm long.
Biology
Redeye Cicadas feed on native and introduced trees. They are most active in November and December, singing a two part song - slow at the start followed by a continuous mild rattle.
Distribution
South-eastern mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Open eucalypt woodland or forest, also urban areas.
