General Description
Body grey and covered with small hairs. Wings grey with curved veins at the tips; wings held away from body when resting. Legs narrow and mouthparts long. Body up to 2 cm long.
Biology
Bee Flies hover over or rest on blossoms and bare patches of ground. Their larvae are thought to parasitise grasshopper and locust egg masses.
Distribution
Mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Warm, sunny locations, including arid areas.
