General Description

Body green with wings folded over the abdomen like the roof of a house. Long antennae on the head. Body up to 4 cm long.

Biology

Katydids are active at night and eat plants. Males make sounds which are higher pitched than the Black Field Cricket. They usually walk or fly away if disturbed.

Distribution

Mainland Australia and Tasmania.

Habitat

Gardens, grasslands and eucalypt forests.
