General Description
Body brown and antennae short with wide tips. Wings transparent with a brown mottled pattern. Larva brown with large jaws and a wide body. Body up to 5 cm long.
Biology
Antlions are mainly predatory with only a few species feeding on pollen. Some Antlions move around on or under the ground; others build conical pits in dry soil and wait for invertebrate prey to fall into the pit.They lay individual eggs, scattered on the ground.
Distribution
Mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Dry areas.
