General Description
Body black with white spots in a line on the abdomen and scattered on thorax. Legs and abdomen orange-red. Body up to 3 cm long.
Biology
Cream-spotted Ichneumon females lay an egg, or eggs, inside caterpillars by using the ovipositor at the end of their abdomen. The larva feeds on the caterpillar and the adult wasp eventually emerges from the caterpillar's cocoon. Females cannot sting.
Distribution
South-eastern mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat
Forests, woodlands, heaths and urban areas.
