Summary

This resin model of a Giant African Landsnail was made by Museums Victoria Preparators. A shell of the Snail was obtained on loan from Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) and this was used to make a cast. The body was modelled from illustrations.

The Giant African Landsnail is native to East Africa, but it has been widely introduced to other parts of the world. Outside it's native range it causes damage to crops and native plants, competes with native snail taxa, and spreads human diseases. Thanks to the work of Australian quarantine, this species has not made it to Australia.
