Summary
Isograptus victoriae was one of eight fossils nominated to become Victoria's state fossil emblem in 2021. It was first described from Castlemaine, Victoria. It is the key index fossil used internationally to define the Darriwilian (467-458 million years ago), a stage in the lower Middle Ordovician and the only international stage name that comes from Australia.
