Charlie Day was born on March 26 1874 in Cambrian Hill, Victoria. In 1898, he began working at Sunshine Harvester Works as a blacksmith. The company was based in Ballarat at the time. Charlie retired from the Sunshine Harvester Works in June 1948, aged 74. He passed away in Footscray in 1957.
Charlie's company legacy continued on with his son Roy who worked for the firm between 1919 and 1970.
