Kodak Melbourne Memories - Val Bell, 1937-1944
This 2:57 minute digital story tells the story of Val Bell's time working for Kodak Australasia at the Abbotsford factory, 1937-1944.
Val Bell started work at Kodak in the Film Department at Abbotsford before moving to work for Lionel Andrew and Elvin Teasdale, as a clerk in the Technical Directors office. Val was also a member of the Kodak women's basketball team. She worked at Kodak for seven years, including several years during World War II, and left the company when she was married.
Val Bell was interviewed as part of the Kodak Oral history project. This digital story is an edited extract from her original 102 minute oral history interview.
The images shown are part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, after the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.
