Kodak Melbourne Memories - Yvonne Cameron, 1964-1975

This 2:35-minute digital story tells the story of Yvonne Cameron and her time working for Kodak Australasia at the company's Coburg factory.

Yvonne Cameron started part-time work at Kodak in the Coburg factory canteen in 1964. As part of her work she delivered morning tea in Building 8, as well as working in the onsite milk bar. Yvonne was always interested in photography so later she transferred to the photo shop. As part of her duties there she worked at Moomba, stationed at the Kodak Caravan, where customers could buy film or get photography advice.

As a part time worker Yvonne couldn't get Christmas holidays, so she transferred to a full-time typist position in the Camera Reels and Sundries offices in Building 15, where she stayed until 1975.

Yvonne Cameron was interviewed as part of the Kodak oral history project. This digital story is an edited extract from her original 61-minute oral history interview.

The images shown are part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, after the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.
