The Yallourn Power Station was Victoria's first baseload thermal powered electricity generating plant situated on the Latrobe Valley brown coal fields. It was constructed in five separate stages for the State Electricity Commission of Victoria, between 1921 and 1962. It was the largest capacity power station in Victoria until the commissioning of the fourth of 200 MW six units at the Hazelwood Power Station in 1967.
