The Victoria Industrial Society hosted annual Victorian Industrial Exhibitions. A Victorian Industrial Exhibition was held in Geelong from 29 to 30 January 1851. Livestock, agriculture and wines were exhibited and prizes were awarded. The Victoria Industrial Society exhibitions were well received and became an annual event.

A silver prize medal was awarded at the Victorian Industrial Exhibition of 1856 to John Jones for 'the best case of artificial limbs' (NU 20930).

The 1858 exhibition boasted displays of manufacturing, produce, machinery and fine arts. It was opened by His Excellency, Sir Henry Barkly on 11 February.
