Wooden rack containing 11 glass ampoules containing the antibiotic penicillin. Made by Commonwealth Serum Laboratories, Melbourne, 1944.
Physical Description
1 - oblong box shape light wood, 2 platforms suspended by 4 turned wood vertical supports. Bottom platform has 24 circular indentations to hold base of ampoule. Top platform has 12 circular holes for ampoule to sit into. 2 - cylindrical clear glass tapering to a welded point at top. 2 x adhesive yellow labels. (description from CSL catalogue) Each glass vial contains penicillin powder.
