Summary
This sympathy poem was one of a large number sent to his trainer and part owner Harry Telford after Phar Lap died in April, 1932. The Telford family retained the poems, and they were donated to the museum in the 1990s.

Handwritten on front in black ink: Mighty Phar Lap/ When the radio flashed the new around/ With horror we were filled/ At the death of the famous Racehorse/ Who was accidently killed/ No more will his lightning action be seen/ By the great Racing Fratertinity/ What will we do I cannot suggest/ All sportsmen will remember him/ To them he gave of his best/ He's gone why should it be/ Night Raid and Intreaty's Son/ The Record breaker Phar Lap.
