Summary

Wooden box which opens out to make a cribbage board. The scoring pegs, of which only three remain, are kept inside the box.

Cribbage, or crib, is a card game traditionally for two players, but commonly played with three, four or more. It involves playing and grouping cards in combinations which gain points.

Physical Description

Rectangular wooden box lined with paper containing five small objects. The box has a lid and a bottom section.The top of the lid has inlaid rectaular sections of wood darker in colour than the rest of the box. There are also lines forming rectangles carved into the surface. There are four rows of circles drilled into the lid. The lid and bottom are secured together with hinges at one of the shorter ends, a a metal hook and a catch on the outside of the box secure the lid to the bottom half. When the box is completely opened up, the outside surfaces serve as the playing bord, with pieces inside the box sitting in the holes in the surface. On the inside of the box the top and bottom are lined with a cream coloured paper with gold coloured star pattern. There are some numbers written on the inside of the box in graphite pencil.
